Christmas holidays!
During the christmas holidays I started working on out current project 'Manifesto' i did this by starting my research into ethical and sustainable issues. i decided to do this is depth to ensure i understand the situations fully before i start designing. I also was trying to think of a theme to start my designing but it was harder than it seemed! everything i thought of cam to a dead end and ran dry after a while of researching it! so i decided to talk to the lecturers. I also used some time in the holidays to finalize my 2 small projects from the start of the course; black and white project and culture project. there wasn't much i needed to do to these but got them all finished ready for deadline. while doing this though, i did realise i need to become more decisive as i really can not make decisions, becoming more confident in my own judgment would be a great skill for me to acquire.
Monday 11.01.10
It was our first day back after the lovely holiday and it was a chance for me to talk to Karen about the project i had struggled with over the holidays. Sarah James gave a good presentation on sustainable issues which was really good as i only managed to focus on ethical by myself so this stemmed my next step in my research. I then took the opportunity to sit down with Karen and talk about what theme i could do! this really helped :) she started asking me random questions just to see what i am interested in and what i could maybe have to inspire me, and working together and talking about things we slowly started building up an idea of where i could take my research.
we decided as i have a love for photography and studied it for an A level it was a good idea if i incorporated this into my project, to the point where i use images to put together my own theme, i will go out and take random images and capture textures, plants, emotions and life so that i can put the best images together to create a mood of 'everyday living' I can then use this to select colours, textures and shapes to inspire me with my designing. this will also not restrict me in what i can design and i can go wild with my designs :) I am excited to do this and cant wait to see the outcome. i can then build on top of this to include features from my research such as recycling and ethical and sustainable issues.
For the duration of that week:
I used this time to continue my research and preparing to move on with my project. This was time well needed and helped me a lot in the progression of my work. However, it has made me realise i have a lot to do in such a little time!
Monday 18.01.10
This was our deadline for the two projects at the start of our course! I hit the deadline and cant wait to find out the outcome although these two projects have made me very determined to do better in my current project and develop on areas which i felt were weak in these studies. Such as elements of research and designs.
I then went home form this deadline and again, continued with my project! 9 hours, 9 hourssssssssssssss (thats like a long day at work :) ) i sat there and did my work...non-stop! it nearly killed me. After this upon reflecting on this time i started to panic. this is because i feel i got nowhere just because i spent all this time re-doing my work because i wasn't happy with my presentation of my research. i need to really start moving forward with my project and i aim to do a lot more by Mondays lesson! sooooo much to do sooooo little time!
Tuesday 19.01.10
Today we are working on presentations. our deadline has been extended and although me and Tiffany have already completed our section of the presentation its a good opportunity to enhance it and include more info. Also we need to join all our groups work together so we are ready to do our presentation. we are using Google Docs for this. Also watching clips on presentations will enhance our work and show us how to present to an audience and how to deliver a strong performance!!!
